Detectives have unearthed a cannabis farm worth up to £800,000.

Police swooped on an industrial unit in Lugar, near Cumnock, on Thursday morning.

Acting on intelligence, officers executed a warrant at the facility where 1,300 cannabis plants were found.

Cops have said today that they reckon the illicit haul has a street value of between £265,000 and £796,000.

Police also remain at the scene of the drugs bust.

No arrests have been made but one detective said drugs cause 'misery' across Ayrshire towns and villages and called on the public to pass on any vital information.

Detective Inspector Craig Gilmour said: “Officers remain at the scene and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“We are appealing for anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 1148 of Thursday, 23 May, 2024.

“Drugs cause misery in our communities and the public has an important role to play in helping Police Scotland target those responsible for the cultivation, supply and sale of illegal substances.

“We encourage anyone with concerns or information about drugs to contact us on 101 or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
