Giants star RB Saquon Barkley goes down with knee injury, ruled out for game

Fantasy players and New York Giants fans alike didn’t want to see Saquon Barkley being helped off the field, unable to put any weight on his right leg.

Barkley was being tackled by Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson when his right knee buckled. He went down, reached for his knee, banged the turf in pain and took off his helmet. He was helped off the field, unable to put any weight on his right leg.

Barkley, who left the game to take X-rays, didn’t return. The Giants lost, 17-13.

Barkley has been one of the league’s best backs since he was the second overall pick of the 2018 draft. He was one of the best prospects ever at the running back position coming out of Penn State and has lived up to that. He also is in line to sign a huge extension when eligible after this season.

The Giants will hold their breath, hoping Barkley’s injury isn’t as bad as it initially looked.
