It's safe to say that Netflix's revival of the much-loved Gilmore Girls was a triumph. It undid the disappointment of season seven and we finally got to hear those four words that were meant to end the show originally.
But, as fulfilling as that final episode of A Year in the Life was, we would absolutely love it to continue, and we aren't the only ones.
Speaking to Deadline, stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel revealed that although they themselves haven't been in discussions with Netflix, they are open to the idea of doing more.
"I would play [Lorelai] until my dying day," Graham said. "From the moment I read the pilot, I felt so connected to Amy Sherman-Palladino's voice as a writer.
"It was so invigorating and fulfilling to do that work. In terms of an actor, I would never tire of that."
Graham added that she wouldn't want to continue for the sake of it, however, stating: "What can we do that is satisfying, and worth continuing, and gratifying to the people who care so much about it?
"I don't know if there is a need to do more. I would never want it to feel like we overstayed our welcome. There's probably a way to keep these characters alive but I don't know if that's the best thing for them."
Bledel, on the other hand, personally wants her character Rory to reach a place she hadn't by the end of the Netflix specials.
"It certainly wasn't the ending I was expecting. I told Amy that I hoped Rory would end on a high note.
"After all her hard work, I wanted to see her succeed and be thriving. So it was a hard thing for me to digest."
Graham then chipped in and said: "That's not an ending, that's a cliffhanger!"
And you know what a cliffhanger demands – yup, another season.
Gilmore Girls is available to watch on Netflix.
