Gina Rodriguez is #hairgoals and the haters will deal. In an interview with Latina magazine, the Jane the Virgin star perfectly summed up how she feels about people critiquing the fabulous half-shaved head she’s sporting for her upcoming role in Annihilation.
“I am not my beauty,” Rodriguez said. “Who I am is not my f—cking hair, and to be an actor is to transform. To represent a community is to commit, to give my entire all.”
We couldn’t agree more with Rodriguez’s DGAF attitude. Not only is she absolutely killing her edgy new ‘do, she’s spreading a crucial message about the importance of representation while reassuring women everywhere that our value extends far beyond the surface. Sure, hair can be styled to reflect our personalities, but judging someone by the way they wear their tresses frankly leaves us rolling our eyes in exhaustion.
Besides, how can you not be in love with this look? We’ve seen it on everyone from Demi Lovato to Kelly Clarkson and it’s not any less flawless on Rodriguez:

As the actress captioned the photo, “I am not my hair. I am not my weight. I am not my skin color. I am love, I want to be love with every interaction, with every decision I make for myself, with every failure and success. You should try it. I dare you. Let go of what you think would make you more beautiful and discover you have all you need already inside.”
