Television personality Gino D’Acampo has defended Phillip Schofield amid ongoing reports that he’s feuding with Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden.

In an exclusive interview with the Express, the Italian chef described his This Morning co-presenter as “super professional, super friendly” and “very easy” to work with.

“Talking about Phillip Schofield is like talking about Terry Wogan,” he explained to the publication. “These iconic people, they are the masters of television.

“He’s a real a friend of mine, they’re not always just colleagues, he’s a real joy.”

“I choose to do the shows where the presenters are good, in a way in which they are good people. These are the people I want to work with.”

D’Acampo concluded by saying that “life is too short” to spend your days with “nasty people.”

Rumours of animosity between Schofield, 57, and Holden, 48, began last year, when the former supposedly urged ITV producers to bring in The Saturdays’ Rochelle Humes to present alongside him - instead of Holden - while Holly Willoughby was in Australia working on I’m A Celebrity... Numerous names have weighed in on the quarrel, with Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan voicing their support for BGT pal Holden publicly.

Just recently, a spokesperson for ITV defended Schofield, saying: "Presenter line ups on This Morning change regularly and final decisions on these line ups are made by producers and not the presenters.

“Phillip Schofield is a much loved broadcaster and part of the ITV family. He is a consummate professional and held in high regard at ITV."
