Yahoo News Giovanna Fletcher reveals heartbreaking miscarriage
Giovanna Fletcher has revealed that she experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage before she had her first child Buzz.
The author, who is married and has two children with McFly's Tom Fletcher, spoke about her tragic loss at a BUILD series event in London.
"When it comes to miscarriage, I think we're all too scared to say something," she said. "I felt like I could never say anything to friends because people feel like it's contagious.
"It's a really rubbish thing that happens, and it happens to so many people. All you really want in that moment is a hug.
"You feel like your body has failed you, and that's your first experience as a mother."
Giovanna continued: "I fell pregnant very quickly, and I had this thing in my head that it was just too easy. After being worried for so long that it wouldn't be easy, it just happened.
"And then I miscarried not long after that, and I think part of me felt that would happen, because I felt it was too easy. Because I felt that I hadn't earned it.
"If that didn't happen, I wouldn't have Buzz, and Buzz will forever be my silver lining."
Giovanna and Tom's second child, Buddy, was born in February 2016.
Giovanna hit back at body-shaming trolls commenting on her post-baby body, weeks after giving birth to Buddy.
"Yes, I still have a bump. But that bump kept my little baby boy safe for a whole nine months," she wrote at the time. "That bump has filled my world with even more love and light than I knew possible. That bump is a miracle worker."
