Our Girl angers fans by ruining another beloved couple
Our Girl has done it again.
You'd think the BBC One series would know better than to mess with its established couples, after sparking outrage when it killed off Georgie Lane's (Michelle Keegan) love Elvis Harte (Luke Pasqualino) at the end of the last block of episodes.
Fans have only just stopped complaining about Our Girl robbing Georgie and Elvis of their 'Happily Ever After', and now the show is messing with Captain Charles James (Ben Aldridge) and Molly Dawes's (Lacey Turner) marriage.
The two characters link the first two series of Our Girl, having married off-screen before Captain James was shipped off to lead Georgie, Elvis and the rest of 2 Section on their humanitarian tours.
In Tuesday's episode, a mission in Belize went wrong and Captain James ended up impaling his foot. Although Georgie was able to get him to safety, the captain's condition rapidly deteriorated.
As the two discussed their bond with each of their 2 Section crewmates, Captain James shocked viewers by claiming that his feelings for Georgie 'crossed a line' into romantic infatuation.
"Perhaps I've crossed a line when it comes to my feeling for you," he admitted to her, with Georgie responding: "You have feelings for all the guys."
"Elvis has bonded us, Lane. Me and you," he tried telling her.

James was interrupted before he could explain himself further, but viewers were reeling about the possibility of the captain ruining his marriage to Molly to make a play for Georgie:
there are like 3 people who cheer at the georgie/james development and i’m here wondering, how is it possible your hearts were replaced by trash?
because if you even remotely support that, with the history james & molly shared, there is something deeply wrong with you.#ourgirl pic.twitter.com/V5c9hGxf1N- Giada Federica; 🐺 (@lupainthenorth) June 19, 2018
@TonyGrounds you are wanted for the murder of Luke Pasqualino & Iwan Rheon but also for Molly & James' divorce #ourgirl

I wonder if they know that by ruining james & molly this way they are ruining the whole show, and no, i’m not exaggerating.
This is so disrespectful to those many people who grew with #ourgirl from the start, with molly.
Really a whole new level of shit. Feeling totally aghast. pic.twitter.com/VrGwLo32jc- Giada Federica; 🐺 (@lupainthenorth) June 19, 2018

Did season one mean nothing to #ourgirl ? You can't just ruin Molly and Captain James like that, they belong together. Don't do this @TonyGrounds, don't destroy them. pic.twitter.com/8WFcVVBcDL

if this is really the way #ourgirl wants to go, wholly disrespecting the heart of this show, acting like s1, THE CORE SEASON, never happened, disrespecting molly like this and trashing james’ character by turning him into someone he’s not, then it deserves to sink. pic.twitter.com/4wTMIlKbcO

Oh hell no! I don't care if Molly never comes back to #ourgirl (lies, I love her. I hope she does) her and Captain James were amazing together. These "feelings" better be platonic!😡

Not even watched it yet as I’m in work but reading all the tweets, if Captain James ends up with Lane then it’s gone to shit to be honest, we’ve had Molly and James, Georgie and Elvis, the writers need to believe it will do well with out it being based around a romance! #OurGirl
