Our Girl's Michelle Keegan announced for new Netflix thriller series
Our Girl star Michelle Keegan has been announced as the lead star for a new thriller series from Netflix.
The actress will star in Fool Me Once, an eight-part series based on Harlan Coben’s best-selling novel from 2016.
Keegan will play Maya Stern, a mother who is left grief-stricken following the murder of her husband Joe (Richard Armitage). Her mourning turns to confusion, however, when she sees a man resembling her husband enter her house…

Meanwhile, Maya's niece and nephew, Abby and Daniel, are trying to find the truth about their mother's murder, examining the possibility that the two cases are connected.
Starring alongside Keegan and Armitage is Adeel Akhtar, who will assume the role of the detective in charge of the investigation; he is said to “hold dark secrets of his own”. Joanna Lumley will also appear in the series as Maya’s mother-in-law.
The story will be relocated from its original US setting to the UK, with filming now underway in Manchester; there is currently no news of a release date.
Keegan, who had also played Tina in Coronation Street, played Sergeant Georgie Lane in Our Girl from series 2 before announcing her departure from the role after the fourth series.

Despite quitting, Keegan didn’t rule out the possibility of reprising her role as Georgie in the future, saying: “I absolutely loved playing that role and I loved Our Girl, but I felt at the time that Georgie had completed her storyline.
“She is still alive, so a few years down the line we could pick it back up again. I would love to do Our Girl again; people would love to see what Georgie is up to now,” she added.
In addition to Fool Me Once, her other upcoming projects include the fifth series of comedy show Brassic, and Ten Pound Poms, a six-part 1950s-set series from the creators of Sex Education.
Fool Me Once is currently in production and will stream on Netflix.
