Fresh from her star turn in Get Out and a six-season run on HBO's Girls, Allison Williams is moving into more Unfortunate territory with Netflix.

The actress has been cast in the A Series of Unfortunate Events TV series in a mysterious role, and will debut in the upcoming second season.

The show confirmed her casting by posting a picture of Williams posing with new co-stars Malina Weissman (Violet) and Louis Hynes (Klaus), suggesting her character will be on the Baudelaire orphans' side.

One possible contender for her role is Kit Snicket, the twin sister of the narrator Lemony (Patrick Warburton), who plays a key part in the latter novels the show is adapted from.

We will surely find out next week, when season two drops on the steaming platform.

Unfortunately (pun intended) the Netflix show will conclude after the subsequent season, as Count Olaf actor Neil Patrick Harris recently confirmed that the show will end with season three.

"It was always the plan to do three seasons," the actor said, "which I really liked. It makes me feel like we're doing a specific piece of art, as opposed to just hoping that the zeitgeist holds us up for as many seasons as people can stomach."

The final season will also be shorter, with Harris confirming it will only last seven episodes – as opposed to the second season's 10.

A Series of Unfortunate Events will drop its second season on Netflix on March 30.
