Welcoming a baby into the world is a joyous occasion, and one would expect their loved ones to be supportive.

Childbirth is no easy feat, and having a strong support system of family and friends can be crucial for new mums. However, one woman has expressed her frustration with her family, who she claims have been nothing but a nuisance since she gave birth three days ago - their main gripe being her son's name.

The mum revealed that her son was born via an emergency C-section at 36 and a half weeks and has been in the NICU since his birth. Rather than providing the much-needed rest or assistance, her family has incessantly badgered her about the little boy's name.

In a Reddit post, the mum shared that she and her husband chose to name their baby boy Frost, a name that holds multiple meanings for them and feels fitting considering her pregnancy journey.

She stated: "Since announcing my son's birth, my family has made it pretty clear how much they do not like his unique name. My husband and I have stated how the name has multiple meanings for us and that we chose the name because it is a strong name.

"We also explained that because my pregnancy was high-risk and we all went through a lot, we really wanted him to have a name that showed just how strong he is. But it's been three days and my family has not stopped complaining about the name and telling us to change it for fear of him being bullied or hating it later in life."

Pouring her heart out, the mum confessed that her "mental health is struggling with all this negativity", made worse as she's dealing with her baby boy's treatment in the NICU. She further added: "It just feels so pointless at this point and it's just so upsetting since this is meant to be a time for celebration."

People who read the post sympathised with her predicament, although some admitted that her choice of name is quite uncommon, opening it up to potential criticism or judgement.

One reader opined: "I'm usually one for unique names but Frost is definitely going to lead to some teasing and bullying throughout his entire life," while another cautioned: "Oh lord, you set up that kid for a lifetime of bullying. Listen to your family and change his name."

Another commentator adopted a more empathetic stance, writing: "I haven't read all the comments and I'm not sure if anyone has already said this but I hope that whatever you call your son, he's all right and gets out of the NICU."
