Glasgow British Airways flight declares emergency over city after onboard incident

It is understood that the pilot requested a priority landing as a precaution and the aircraft landed normally.

A British Airways flight has declared an emergency on approach to Glasgow Airport this afternoon (Monday, October 21).

The BA8722 flight from London made the Squawk 7700 call while approaching the city at around 2pm while over the Bellshill area. The Embraer ERJ-190 landed around 15 minutes later.

A British Airways spokesperson has since confirmed that the call related to an onboard medical emergency involving an elderly passenger.
