A much-loved food spot at the Barras has revealed a famous food star recently popped by for some filming.

Scran, located on London Road, is famous for its specials, coffee and of course, its eggs, and owner and chef behind the multi-award-winning establishment, Chris Mears, was delighted to do some filming with former Man Vs Food star Adam Richman.

The foodie star has been in Glasgow for a few weeks and has been spotted in multiple eateries across the city. After heading into the east end to see what Scran had to offer, Chris revealed he taught Adam how to poach the perfect egg and cooked him their famous eggs Stornoway and a couple of sides.

Chris said: "We're not allowed to give too much away but we had a great afternoon filming with Adam Richman for his new upcoming series.

"He was one of the most down to earth and friendly 'celebs' we've had the pleasure of cooking for... up there with Limmy! He was incredibly knowledgeable about his scran – I almost offered him a job.

"And his genuine passion for small businesses using local produce really shone through. Can't wait to see our pretty faces and cozy cafe on the big screen and shine a light on quality east end scran."

The New York-born TV star gained worldwide fame for his role in Man vs Food, which saw him travel to countless cities to check out their best dishes and take part in some gut-busting eating challenges.

Adam, who was the host of the much watched programme for its first four seasons, has since gained a huge following on social media.

Chris added: "He was only meant to be in for two hours but ended up staying for four as he was so into what Scran do. We talked in great length about all our local suppliers and Scottish ingredients.

"He interviewed a load of our regulars about the connections with the east end and asked them about the local football teams including Celtic as it was a match night."
