A CHRISTMAS concert will be held in Glasgow to support young cancer patients and their families.

The event organised by Glasgow Hospitals’ Christmas Choir and Young Lives vs Cancer will be held in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Friday, December 9, and welcomes back music director Alistair Digges and the Glasgow Chamber Orchestra.

Special guests include international opera star Karen Cargill, pop sensation from The Voice UK - Jeremey Levi, broadcaster and writer, Sally Magnusson, and the talented Hutchesons’ Grammar School Junior Choir.

Alistair Digges said: “I’m so excited that the Glasgow Christmas Concert for Young Lives vs Cancer is back at last. The hospitals’ choir and I are already having great fun rehearsing a fantastic programme of Christmas songs and carols and are delighted to be able to help raise money to support the important work the charity does.

“This year’s concert has something in it for everyone, all the family can come along, take part, and enjoy.

“I can’t wait to hear ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’ soaring around Glasgow’s beautiful Royal Concert Hall again, with orchestra, choir and hopefully a full audience all singing their hearts out. What better way to start the festive season.”

Families spend an average of £730 more per month when a child or young person has cancer.

Last year in Scotland, Young Lives vs Cancer supported 520 families, giving out financial grants to the value of £59,700, helping families to cope with the costs of cancer. Carol Jones, senior fundraising manager at Young Lives vs Cancer, said: “I’d like to say a personal thank you to everyone who has supported the Christmas concert and Young Lives vs Cancer this year.

“Your help and generosity mean Young Lives vs Cancer can continue to be there for more children and young people facing cancer.”

Tickets are available to buy directly from the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on 0141 353 8000 or online at glasgowconcerthalls.com.
