Scots fans of Moo Deng, the tiny endangered female pygmy hippo calf born at a Thai zoo that's quickly become a viral sensation thanks to her antics, can now see our very own version live at Edinburgh Zoo.

Wee Haggis (or should that be McMoo Deng?) – our very own adorable pygmy hippo calf – was born on Wednesday (October 30) and is settling into her new home with parents Otto and Gloria.

She can now be spotted in her habitat at The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) run zoo as she explores alongside her mum.

Visitors to the wildlife conservation charity’s attraction can now catch a glimpse of Haggis as she becomes bolder, spending more time each day exploring inside.

The zoo team revealed a new image of the adorable little hippo as she plays in the water of her enclosure.

Pygmy hippos are native to the forests and swamps of West Africa, primarily Liberia. The species is classified as Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and it is estimated that just 2,500 remain in the wild due to habitat loss.
