Glasgow flooding 'emergency repairs' underway as burst main leaves residents with 'filthy' water
Emergency repairs are being carried out in the city's southside after a burst on a "strategic water main" left homes without water.
Scottish Water says the publicly owned utility was alerted to an issue on Pollokshaws Road close to its junction with Maxwell Road where localised flooding has forced the carriageway to be closed in both directions on Saturday, February 1, evening.
Pollokshaws Road is closed from Albert Drive to Cumberland Street.

A number of other streets are affected including Cumberland Street which is closed at the junction with Eglinton Street, Turiff Street at Pollokshaws Road, Eglinton Street at Devon Street and Pollokshaws Road at Maxwell Drive.
Buses are being diverted away from Pollokshaws Road to Victoria Road and Cathcart Road. Other local diversions are in place and road users and the public are advised to avoid the area.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "Teams on site are investigating but we know customers in the G41, G42, G43 and G44 areas have been impacted.
"We are working as quickly as we can to bring the majority of residents back into supply as soon as possible and we will be in touch directly with Priority Service Customers.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this burst and thank affected customers for their patience and understanding while these emergency repairs are underway."
Some locals are reporting "dark brown filthy" water coming from their taps. If any affected residents experience discoloured water when supplies are restored, they should run the cold water tap in their kitchen until the water runs clear.
Any customers impacted by flooding should contact Scottish Water's customer services helpline for support on 0800 0778 778.
