Glasgow issued yellow weather warning as heavy rain set to hit the city

Experts say that bus and train services are likely to be affected, and spray and flooding could prolong journey times.

Glasgow and the surrounding area have been issued with a yellow weather warning for heavy rain.

The Met Office has warned the Strathclyde area to expect heavy downpours from 9pm tonight (February 3) that will last until 1pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Glaswegians are being told to expect some flooding and travel disruption with up to 30mm of rain expected to fall across the area. Rain is expected to be heavier over the hills with between 40 to 60 mm expected.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Persistent rain, heavy at times, during Monday night will continue into Tuesday morning. Accumulations of 30 mm are expected widely across the warning area with 40 to 60 mm falling over hills. Rain will clear from the west during Tuesday afternoon."
