Jobs could be cut in Glasgow as Homebase could be set to enter administration.

The homeware and garden retailer, which operates at Auldhouse Retail Park, Pollokshaws, and the Palace Grounds in Hamilton could be set for partial collapse, amid reports insolvency experts have been called in.

According to Sky News, administrators are lining up a deal to save more than 1,500 jobs but will leave a question mark over the future of 1,700 others.

It is currently unknown if the Glasgow branch will be saved as part of the deal.

The deal from The Range boss Chris Dawson would see the purchase of 75 stores, taking on 1,600 members of staff.

Mr Dawson, is also in talks to take over the 40-year-old Homebase brand and its website in a deal worth around £30m.

Teno, which has been running a sale process in recent months, is expected to look for buyers for the remaining 50 Homebase stores once it is appointed as administrator.

Homebase is currently owned by retail investor Hilco which previously rescued brands such as HMV.

In recent years, attempts to reinvigorate Homebase's brand has been hampered by Covid-19 disruption and a decline in customer spending due to the cost-of-living crisis.
