An Oxfam store in Glasgow is hosting a charity fundraising night with live music, snacks and a raffle to take part in - all for a good cause.

The charity is opening the doors to its Victoria Road branch, in Govanhill, from 7pm on Friday (July 12) for an evening of entertainment to raise money for relief efforts in Gaza.

Guests will be treated to live performances by local bands Frank’s House, Dale McPhail and Étáin.

It comes following the ongoing 'genocide' in Gaza where more than 37,000 people, including women and children, have been killed in millitary attacks.

The monies raised during the charity event - which costs £5 per ticket - will go towards helping Oxfam's team on the ground in Gaza to support people suffering.

Michelle Layden, who manages the shop, thanked the local businesses, bakeries and florists who have generously supported the fundraiser.

She said: "Our shop has always been a hub for community and support which is why we have decided to host this event to raise much-needed funds for the Gaza crisis.

"People in Gaza need virtually everything; emergency shelters, food, water, and medicine. We need to raise vital funds so that Oxfam can provide life-saving aid now and scale up this support when it is safe and possible to do so.

"We are incredibly grateful to Frank’s House, Dale McPhail and Étáin for their enthusiastic participation, and to our community for their unwavering support for and solidarity with people in Gaza."

Performer Dale McPhail added: "I'm excited to perform at this event because it brings our community together to support such a meaningful cause. It's a wonderful opportunity for all of us to unite, share joy through music, and make a positive impact together."

Oxfam is calling for the new UK Government to do everything in its power to help secure an immediate and permanent ceasefire: to end the death and destruction, allow more aid get to those that desperately need it and enable the safe release of hostages being held by Hamas.

Tickets for the charity night on Friday, July 12, can be purchased from the Oxfam shop on Victoria Road.
