The Glasgow restaurants named among UK's most romantic as we approach Valentine's Day

Choosing the perfect restaurant to eat out with your favourite person for Valentine's Day is always a pain.

With research by OpenTable revealing nearly half of Brits (49 per cent) planning to dine out on February 14, the dining specialists have released their list of Top 100 Romantic Restaurants in the UK for 2025.

With seven Scottish spots having made the list, including four in Glasgow, there are a good selection to choose from.

Of course we know Glasgow does romance well, and there are four top restaurants including the luxurious Spanish Butcher on Miller Street, the renowned Number 16 Restaurant on Byres Road, the stylish Ralph and Finns on St Vincent Place and Scottish cuisine experts Ardnamurchan on Hope Street.

Created for diners, by diners, the list is compiled from analysing over 900,000 OpenTable diner reviews, along with diner ratings, reservation demand and percentage of reviews with the tag “romantic” among other factors.

OpenTable spills the hottest Valentine’s Day dining trends

  • The new day for first dates? - Single Brits are redefining Valentine’s as the ultimate first date opportunity, with over half (54 per cent) revealing they would be interested in going on a first date on 14th February at a restaurant.

  • Spreading the love - Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be just for two! Why not share the romance and double the fun by inviting another couple along to your meal? 43 per cent of Brits are in agreement, revealing they would consider a double date at a restaurant with another couple on Valentine’s Day.

  • An excuse to expand your taste buds - Last year a large majority of Brits (79 per cent) opted to try a new restaurant for their Valentine’s meal rather than a venue they’ve been to before, according to OpenTable data.
