All Glasgow schools to close as Storm Eowyn to hit city and red warning issued
All Glasgow City Council schools are to close Friday (January 24) as Storm Éowyn hits the city.
The council announced all schools and nurseries will be closed after the Met Office issued a red weather warning for wind. The warning, the most severe issued by the national forecaster, comes after 88mph winds were forecast for Glasgow city centre.
In a post to X, the council said: "Due to Storm Éowyn all our Schools and Council Nurseries will be closed tomorrow. Your school/nursery will provide further updates directly to you. Please take care."

The red warning is active from 10am to 5pm Friday. An amber warning for wind will also be in place across Glasgow and the wider region from 1pm Friday to 6am Saturday, with the Met Office warning of flying debris, power cuts and travel disruption.
Glasgow is under a yellow warning for wind throughout from 6am to midnight on Friday, midnight to 3pm on Saturday, and 8am to 3pm on Sunday. A yellow warning for snow previously issued for Glasgow on Friday has been lifted, still covering Argyll and Bute.
