Is that the sound of beer gardens putting up the parasols to distant cries of 'taps aff'? — As Glasgow heads into December, this weekend could feel like a relative scorcher after a frozen week.

Glasgow is to be blessed with an unseasonably mild weekend — before temperatures drop back to freezing on Monday (December 2). Met Office forecasters are expecting temperatures in the city could reach 16°C.

As recently as Thursday, Glaswegians struggled on through Baltic temperatures, with the mercury plummeting to -4°C and only climbing above freezing in the evening, according to Met Office data.

It is expected to stay unusually warm throughout Saturday night, with temperatures holding steady at around 14°C into the wee hours of Sunday. Temperatures are not expected to dip below 13°C until Sunday evening, with highs of 15°C possible.

But all that will be a distant memory by Monday, as we could see lows of -4°C. It will remain cold for the early part of the week, thawing somewhat on Thursday with temperatures of 11°C expected.

The weekend warmth won't boil off any rain clouds, and there is a fair chance of some light rain on Saturday afternoon. Rain is more likely on Sunday evening and into the night.

Summer's brief reprise? Temperatures could reach 16°C this weekend in Glasgow.
