A popular sushi and poke bowl specialist in Glasgow city centre has announced it has opened in the west end.

Akiko says it has opened on Great Western Road and shared a photo of their new venue, with the 'build your own' poke bar excited to be bringing their offering to new fans.

In the post, they confirmed they are opening Tuesday to Sunday, 12 pm until 9 pm, with the new venue offering the same dishes as their original restaurant on Bothwell Street.

Known for their Japanese inspired poke bowls and sushi rolls, the team say their ‘build your own’ experience means there "is something for everyone’s taste", with a huge variety of ingredients to make the possibilities "endless".

You can start with a base of either mixed leaves, sushi rice and brown rice before adding 'proteins' like salmon, tuna or chicken katsu, and toppings like kimchi, broccoli and slaw before finishing with garnishes like pumpkin seed and spring onion.

The new Akiko Restaurant is now open 491 Great Western Road.
