Glastonbury 2023: Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan appears to confirm band’s slot

Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan seems to have confirmed that the band will perform at Glastonbury Festival this year.

The musician was speaking on his SiriusXM radio show Three Chords & The Truth during which he discussed the band’s upcoming Hyde Park London gig, before he alluded to potential Glastonbury plans.

“And Glastonbury is going to be iconic for us,” McKagan said in the voice clip shared in the Glastonbury subreddit. “We’re going to be announcing some shows you guys, at some point, we’ll be announcing a bunch of stuff.” He did not elaborate any further.

Guns N’ Roses have been among rumoured bands to headline the festival this year – which takes places one week before their huge Hyde Park show on June 30 – but Elton John is the only confirmed headliner so far.

The performance on the festival’s closing night (25 June) will mark the final UK show of the music icon’s last ever tour. Tickets for Glastonbury sold out within an hour of going on sale in November, a much longer time frame than usual due to a “technical problem”.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be headlining the Pyramid Stage,” John said in a statement last month. “As the end of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour comes into view, there is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans. They have been beyond brilliant, and have supported me through all the highs and lows of my career.”

Other acts linked with a headline slot include Arctic Monkeys.

Earlier this week, Mel C updated fans on Spice Girls Glastonbury rumours.

Late last year, Mel B had alluded to another reunion at Worthy Farm during an interview on Channel 4’s The Big Narstie Show. “Yes, I think so!” she said when asked if she personally would appear at this year’s festival. “But I’ve got to convince the other four bitches to do it with me!” she added, before playfully shutting down speculations of another comeback.

Mel then recently told The Guardian: “It’s the question I hate the most, because the answer is as disappointing to me as it is to Spice Girls fans.”
