Glastonbury Festival day-by-day weather forecast as Met Office gives official verdict

The UK's biggest festival returns this week, with a star-studded line-up of performers. Thousands of people are expected to make the journey to the Glastonbury Festival taking place at Worthy Farm this week for days of festival fun.

While the Devon-based forecasters at the Met Office have predicted a mixed week of weather. Some hot spells of 27° will be quickly followed by spells of cloud and rain.

A Met Office forecaster said there is likely to be a hot spell, peaking around the middle of the week as the festival begins. However, winds will arrive on Thursday and Friday bringing temperatures closer to average.

They said: "Things are looking very nice for Glastonbury, the midweek peak in the heat. But then temperatures closer to average from Thursday onwards, much more agreeable temperatures, in other words.

"And although there will be a few spots of rain on Thursday afternoon as that cold front goes through Friday, Saturday Sunday, we're back to sunny spells, light winds and highs of 21 °C.".

Tomorrow (Wednesday, June 26) will be the clearest day of the week, temperatures peak at a scorching 27° from 3pm with lows of 14°. Temperatures will reach the mid 20s from midday and remain high until 7pm.

Thursday will likely be overcast, with the possibility of rain. Temperatures will remain in the high teens, with lows of 14°.

Friday will see sunny spells for much of the day but will start to cool off as we head into the weekend. Maximum temperatures will be 17°, with lows of 10°.

Saturday, June 29, will be mostly overcast, with very little sunshine breaking through. The chance of rain increases from Friday, but remains low at less than 10 per cent. Highs of 20°.

Sunday will begin to clear, with the temperature creeping back up to 20°. The sky will clear from 4pm, as temperatures rise to the high teens.

The UV index will remain high all week, so festival-goers are advised to take necessary precautions while out in the sun.

Today, Tuesday, June 25: Any morning low cloud and mist patches will soon clear to leave a very warm, locally hot day across the region. Small chance of an isolated afternoon shower across the far north. Winds staying light throughout the day. Maximum temperature 27 °C.

Tonight: A fine evening to come, with plenty of sunshine ahead of dusk. Prolonged clear spells overnight, with some low cloud or mist patches returning. A warm and muggy night. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Wednesday: Another fine and very warm, locally hot, day is expected. An isolated heavy shower possible by the afternoon and evening. Winds remaining light. Maximum temperature 29 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Increasing cloud through Thursday, with some rain by the afternoon. Bright and breezy Friday and Saturday, mainly dry with sunny spells. Staying warm, though temperatures lower than recent days.
