Fancy starting a new life away from the hustle and bustle of Glasgow? Well this might be your chance as Glasgow residents have the chance to take over a beloved island village shop on Arran.

An opportunity at The Bay Kitchen & Stores has arisen with the shop, takeaway and short-term let business in Whiting Bay soon to go on the market.

First opened just after WWI, The Bay Stores has been a fantastic asset for the Whiting Bay community for more than 100 years and has become a hub for the community, now offering takeaway coffees and zero-waste shopping.

Announcing the news of the sale on Facebook, the owners said: "Coming soon to market! Our wonderful shop is looking for its next owners!

"Do you know anyone who would like to run this most beloved village shop? We think she has the most fantastic legacy!

"Opened just after the First World War, the Bay Stores has served the community of Whiting Bay for well over 100 years.

"We took on the shop in 2014 and whilst retaining the core “village shop” role; added amongst other things takeaways, barista coffees, a community corner, foodie pop-ups, zero waste shopping, local produce, crazy wonderful seasonal events (and we have more in the offing!).

"The latest Bay Stores ‘baby’ is the ‘Bay Stays’ above, using the 4 bedroom appended apartment to provide a letting business which has been super popular, our guests have loved the proximity to the beach, the park and the shop!

"It has been a fantastic decade, plus for us as a family learning how to be shopkeepers, baristas, gin makers (that's another story!) and even managing a healthy work life balance (it is possible!) after corporate careers on another continent.

"Being here on Arran has also given us great growth as a family being in a supportive village environment (Village primary school is 2 mins walk away), but now it is time to explore some exciting new ventures and to find the next custodians."
