The Glee cast will reunite next month for the 32nd annual GLAAD Media Awards.
The awards will honour the life of Naya Rivera and her Glee character Santana Lopez. The cast of Glee will be part of the presentation that will be held in memory of their late co-star. It will be the 10th anniversary of Santana coming out on the hit TV show.
Demi Lovato, who guest-starred on Glee as Dani, who was one of Santana's love interests, will introduce the special tribute to Naya.
The Glee cast members that will be part of the tribute include Amber Riley, Jacob Artist, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Vanessa Lengies, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Matthew Morrison, Alex Newell, Harry Shum Jr., Becca Tobin and Jenna Ushkowitz.
During their time on-air, Glee was nominated for outstanding comedy series at the GLAAD Media Awards six times; the show won it twice in 2010 and 2011.
Glee had several LGBTQ+ storylines woven into the series from the beginning including Santana's.
Naya sadly passed away last year after she took her young son Josey out on a boat on Lake Piru in California. Naya went missing during the trip and after immense rescue efforts made to try and find her, it was determined that Naya died from accidental drowning.
Amber posted a sweet birthday tribute to Naya via Instagram in January. She wrote: "A little update Naya, earth is REALLY ghetto now! Still, I miss you so very much and I wish you were here.
"There hasn’t been a day where you don’t cross my mind, and when you do, I take a moment of silence to remember all the beautiful moments we got to spend together.
"I’m listening to Amy Winehouse, sippin wine, and eating a very fancy charcuterie in your honor today (don’t worry, I’m checking on mom). HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY ANGEL."
The GLAAD Media Awards will air on GLAAD’s YouTube channel on April 8.
