Glee star changes name to Jake Zyrus
The Glee star formerly known as Charice Pempengco is now known as Jake Zyrus.
The 25-year-old singer and actor took to Twitter to confirm the news, three years after telling the world that "my soul is male" during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
"My first tweet as Jake. Overwhelmed. Saw all your love comments and I'm so happy," the musician wrote earlier this week. "Finally. I love you, everyone and see you soon.
"I won't let anyone ruin this moment. I won't let anyone ruin my happiness. Thank you to all the beautiful write-ups about me."

The fan love was clearly felt by Jake, who later wrote to followers on Instagram in appreciation of all of their support, saying: "From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the love and respect. I love you back and I'm sending peace to everyone."
Jake played Sunshine Corazon on season two of Fox's musical comedy-drama Glee, and also appeared as a judge on The X Factor Philippines during 2012.

Back in 2014, Jake spoke for the first time publicly about gender identity during an interview with Oprah Winfrey in the US.
"[I'm] not exactly transitioning to a male, but basically my soul is male," Jake explained at that time. "But I'm not going to go through that stage where I change everything.
"I don't want to change my body. I will change to this look, like I cut my hair and, you know, wear boy's clothes and everything, but that's all."
Jake has had incredible success both in the US and at home in the Philippines since breaking through into the music industry as a teenager. He's worked with the likes of Celine Dion, songwriter David Foster and Nick Jonas, and reached the US top ten with the 2010 album Charice.
