Glee Star Cory Monteith's Autopsy Set To Be 'Fast Tracked' Due To 'Intense Public Interest'

In the aftermath of the tragic passing of Glee star Cory Monteith, reports have claimed that the autopsy on the star has been "fast tracked" due to "intense public interest".

The actor, who played the role of Finn Hudson on the hit show, was found dead over the weekend by staff of the hotel he was staying at in Vancouver when he failed to check out. Since then, fans and celebrities have paid tribute to the star who was 31 when he sadly passed away.

Hours after news broke of Cory's death, the police ruled out foul play, with various news sources claiming that an autopsy on the actor will take place today.

Claiming that the autopsy process has been fast tracked for Cory, A Vancouver Police Dept. source told E! News: "Due to the intense public interest, the toxicology will be expedited". They added that results will be released in "2 or 3 days."

A rep for Cory and a rep for the Vancouver Coroner's office have both been approached for comment.

Following the sad news of Cory's death, A statement was released on behalf of Glee's executive producers 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Company. The statement read:

"We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones."

A spokesperson for Cory's girlfriend and Glee co-star Lea Michele has asked for privacy as she mourns the loss of her boyfriend.

Releasing a statement to People magazine asking for privacy for the star:

"We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time."
