Glen Powell Reveals How 'Desperate' He Was to Adopt His Pup Brisket in Dog's “Vogue” Cover Story
The actor revealed while trying to adopt his puppy he "called anyone that this adoption place followed on Instagram" to get him
Glen Powell only had eyes for Brisket.
Brisket joins Billie Eilish's canine Shark and Demi Moore’s pup Pilaf as one of the covers of Dogue, Vogue's digital cover project devoted to "celebri-dogs."
Powell spoke with Vogue in an accompanying interview to Brisket’s Dogue cover published on Wednesday, Aug. 14, and revealed his persistence to adopt the small pup.
The Twisters star explained that while on the film’s set in Oklahoma last summer, he was scrolling through Instagram when he stumbled upon a photo of the tiny white puppy on the Labelle Foundation’s account.
“I remember exactly where I was—in this cafe in Enid, Oklahoma—when I saw a picture of him,” he explained. “I was very desperate to get Brisket. I made this video, I called anyone this adoption place I followed on Instagram.”
Powell “made a very hard, hard push for Brisket” and traveled back to Los Angeles during the Twisters production to ensure he could take the pup home.
“I really felt the need to be a dog dad when I was in Enid, Oklahoma, so I almost named him Enid,” he said. “But I’m glad I didn’t name him Enid. Brisket is a very fitting name for him.”

Powell told the outlet he also refers to the small pooch as “Brisky, but a lot of people call him Brisky Business,” adding, “He’s a party, so it makes sense."
The Anyone But You star explained that it feels like Brisket has a lot of nicknames because he “has so many parents.” All of his friends “want to babysit him, and everybody is always sending me pictures hanging with him," Powell said.
Powell joked that because Brisket is a social butterfly, his catchphrase would be: “Oh, friend!”
“He’s just super social. He’d be like, ‘Hey, what’s your name?’ sort of vibes. ‘Hey, I’m Brisket, nice to meet you.’ ” he said, adding, “The thirstiest kid on the first day of school freshman year; he’s the runt and desperate to make friends. That’s probably the vibe.”

More recently, Brisket accompanied the actor during the Twisters press tour, including a tour of the Universal Studios Back Lot with his costars.
Powell told Vogue that he’s “super excited” to bring his canine friend to shoots in Atlanta and London. “It’s really fun having him on that adventure. You’re far away from home, and it’s just nice being able to take on all these adventures with him.”
Twisters is now in theaters.
