Gloucester man admits murdering young woman found dying in the street
A man has admitted to the murder of a 28-year-old woman who was stabbed multiple times. The brutal attack took place late at night in a residential area of Gloucester in late summer this year.
Tanaka Zivanai, 32, of Dora Walk in Tredworth, appeared via video link from prison before Bristol Crown Court yesterday, Wednesday, November 27, where he pleaded guilty to the murder of Zanele Sibanda. He also admitted possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The court heard that police were called at around 1.45am on August 27, 2024, to the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road in Tredworth, to reports that a man had attacked a woman. Zivanai had stabbed Zanele multiple times then left her for dead.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, due to the severity of her injuries she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Zivanai was arrested and charged the following day with her murder, following an investigation by the Major Crime Investigation Team.
Zivanai has been remanded in custody. He is due to be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on January 14, 2025.
