Gloucestershire Airport closed after aircraft 'overshot' runway

Gloucestershire Airport has been closed after an plane 'overshot' the runway on a flight. Emergency services rushed to the scene this evening (Tuesday, October 22) following the incident and the airport remains closed.

The nature of the incident is currently unknown but Gloucestershire Airport said in a statement that no injuries have been reported at the scene. Gloucestershire Airport said: "On the evening of Tuesday 22nd October a light aircraft overshot the runway at Gloucestershire Airport (EGBJ/GLO).

"The Gloucestershire Airport Emergency Plan was immediately activated and attendance by Local Authority Emergency Services was requested. No injuries have been reported and the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) have been notified. Gloucestershire Airport is closed until further notice.

"We are unable to provide any further information at this time and updates will follow when appropriate. Thank you for your understanding whilst we deal with this incident."

It comes around a month after a twin engine small plane crashed into a runway at the airport.
