'Glow in the dark' LGBTQ+ cricket night coming to Cornwall
Another 'glow in the dark' cricket night is coming to Cornwall next month. It will be the second of the LGBTQ+ cricket events hosted by the Cornwall Cricket Board - which says it will bring an "electrifying twist to the traditional game".
The event in Truro will see players wielding fluorescent bats, balls, and accessories under UV lighting. Organisers say it will be a fun-filled evening combining the thrill of cricket "with the vibrant energy of neon".
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, it's part of a series celebrating inclusivity, diversity, and the joy of cricket within Cornwall's LGBTQ+ community and beyond. The event is open to all, regardless of skill level or experience.

Cornwall Cricket Board - the official governing body for cricket in Cornwall - says it will be a welcoming and supportive environment where participants can enjoy cricket in a safe and inclusive space.
Kellie Williams, Cornwall Cricket Board's community engagement lead, said: “I’m looking forward to welcoming people from all backgrounds for an evening of fun, music and socialising! Whether you’re an experienced player, or looking to try cricket for the first time, everyone's welcome."
Joe Skinner, managing director of Cornwall Cricket Board, added: Cricket welcomes people from all backgrounds and we are delighted to provide opportunities to play cricket in such a fun and unique environment. This is about fun in a safe space, lots of music, the glow in the dark equipment and of course bright clothing, cricket is the vehicle for having fun. It doesn’t matter how you bowl or bat, come and have a go!"
Attendees are encouraged to wear their brightest neon gear. The event - open to those aged 15 and over - will take place at Cornwall Cricket Centre, Truro, TR13XX on Friday, February 7 from 7pm. Admission is free.
