'GMB': Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace criticised after claiming men should 'man up'

Big Brother alum Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace sparked controversy on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday (November 20) after telling men to ‘man up’.

Horgan-Wallace was appearing on the morning show to discuss masculinity with the head of leading men’s mental health charity, Working With Men.

This was in light of results from a new survey that found that 61 per cent of 18-24 year-olds expect a man to ‘man up’ in challenging situations.

Horgan-Wallace made her feelings perfectly clear on the matter, explaining how she expects a man to be an ‘alpha male’.

Speaking about the term ‘man up’, GMB presenter Piers Morgan said: “You can’t now use any language like that without people immediately screaming they’re offended.”

To which Horgan-Wallace replied: “Yeah and you’re blurring the lines between masculinity and femininity.

“And I think yes, a man should be able to express their feelings but I also want an alpha male. I’m an alpha female and if I didn’t have an alpha male, I’d walk all over him and then my libido would be down the drain.”

However, her opinions were heavily criticised by viewers on social media, with one person tweeting: “Breathtaking ignorance and arrogance to frame such an issue in this way. Personally hope there was nobody watching this morning who was struggling to cope with their mental health but the stats will say otherwise. Shameful.”

Another viewer wrote: “Just imagine if two men sat there saying women shouldn’t cry or should do something in a certain way. There would be outrage. Let men be what they want to be and cry if they want to.”

On International Men’s Day (November 19), Morgan wrote in the Daily Mail about his fears of ‘radical feminists turning men into a bunch of neutered, grovelling, blubbering doormats.
