Good Morning Britain fans praised Labour MP John Healey today (June 27).

The Shadow Housing Secretary agreed to take part in a discussion following the Grenfell Tower tragedy and the 95 tower blocks in 32 local authorities that have since failed fire safety tests.

Mother-of-four Chantal Peters, who lives on the 16th floor of the Dorney block in Camden with four of her six children, is one of many residents who have recently been evacuated from their homes amid safety concerns.

When she came face-to-face with Healey on GMB, she launched a verbal attack on him live on air and accused him of murder.

"You lot are disgusting," she shouted at the politician. "You lot are up to something.

"Outside my house, it says 400 volts. Now, I do not have sprinklers, I do not have a fire alarm – there's not even a button to press to alarm if there is a fire. Why don't we have any of this in my block?

"There are vulnerable people living in these death traps and you need to do something. I'm sorry but this is disgusting. You need to go to jail!

"I'm sorry but I'm angry. I'm angry for my kids and everyone else out there."

Peters added: "Who made cladding anyway? Who made flammable cladding? They need to go to prison. Why don't you go and find these people? Go to prison! It's murder. You need to get these people arrested. Grenfell is a graveyard."

After originally being offered a one-bedroom flat with two single beds pushed together for her and her four children to sleep in, Peters is now staying in a Marriott Hotel.

Unsurprisingly, she does not want to return to her "death trap" home and is desperate for the government to give her a new residence.

Despite the accusations that were thrown his way, Healey managed to keep his composure throughout the interview and empathised with the heartbroken mother.

He said: "I understand why people like Chantal are having a go at me. I'm in a suit and I'm a politician. I've been part of the government before and I'm part of trying to hold the government to account and ask the questions you want asking. I'm trying to get change in this country."

Those tuning in at home were quick to praise the MP for how he handled the tense situation.

One wrote: "@JohnHealey_MP not an easy interview on @GMB but well done for turning up and facing the public directly."

Another posted: "Respect to @JohnHealey_MP for fronting up on @GMB this morning.Dealt v respectably w/ some pretty abhorrent abuse."

Moments later, a third tweeted: "Feel a little sorry for John Healey on #GMB but at least he fronted up unlike some of these politicians.Cant blame Chantelle for being livid."

Yesterday, Piers Morgan claimed that Theresa May had put a block on Conservative politicians appearing on the programme to be interviewed by the presenter and Susanna Reid.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am.
