Good Morning Britain came to a brief halt after an unexpected blunder today (November 21).

While Alex Beresford was presenting the weather, a loud crash was heard off camera.

Although viewers tuning in at home didn't see what happened, the host was left with his mouth wide-open as he looked on in horror.

"Oh my days," Susanna Reid said in shock before the cameras finally revealed what had happened.

A hanging light was left shattered after a camera operator accidentally smashed into it.

Piers Morgan made it clear he was highly amused by the whole incident.

He quipped: "Well, that certainly livened up the weather report! One of our lights has just been smashed to pieces.

"[The camera operator] just lost his job. It's one of those awful moments. I liked him too. It's going to be a shame to lose him."

GMB then cut to an ad break before returning to the presenters, who were making sure the crew were okay.

Piers added: "We're just making sure everyone is alright over there. Nice work by the cameraman.

"They're quite annoying lights, to be honest with you. Nobody is really quite sure why they're there. They look like Christmas baubles. Well, they were like Christmas baubles. One of them has just been unceremoniously smashed!

"I think you've improved the look of them actually. They now have a retro look."

Susanna then reassured viewers that the glass light fitting was going to be replaced with "unbreakable plastic".

Piers joked afterwards: "I think someone is going to be replaced too. It may not just be the bulb!"

When the show cut to Lorraine Kelly, the presenter was quick to ask if everyone was okay.

Luckily, Digital Spy can confirm that nobody was hurt.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am.
