GMB presenter Richard Madeley asked if he is ‘stupid’ during fiery interview with Insulate Britain activist

Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley was asked if he was "stupid" and "heartless" during a fiery discussion with an Insulate Britain activist.

Tracey Mallaghan, appeared on the talk show to discuss the campaign group's tactics but things got heated.

After Mr Madeley, 65, repeatedly interrupted Ms Mallaghan, she launched into a tirade.

Addressing the veteran presenter, she said: "All of our children are in trouble. You have to stop this. Are you too scared, heartless or are you stupid, Richard? Do you not understand?"

Defending himself, Mr Madeley said: "You said that five times, I'm not stupid and I'm not heartless and I don't really like you patronising me."

Mr Madeley also questioned Ms Mallaghan over the group’s roadblock tactics, which have stopped members of the public from being able to see loved ones in hospital.

He reminded her of a woman left paralysed after the group blocked the M25 and prevented her son’s car from reaching the hospital, askng how Ms Mallaghan would feel if she was put in the same position.

He asked: “So let me ask you personally, straightaway, what if that woman had been your mother?” he queried.

“Would you still think you’ve done the right thing if you put your mother into, basically, a coma?”

After being questioned by Richard again, she said: “If you know someone having a stroke phone an ambulance, that’s the responsible method. You’re going to let me finish, Richard.”

She added after clashing with the presenter: “If it was my mum, of course, at the time I would be furious and heartbroken.”

On Wednesday morning, police made 31 arrests after some protesters glued themselves to the A40 in North Acton and blocked the exit to the Dartford Crossing in Kent.
