GMB protest outside Kingswood Academy in support of Anti-Bullying Week
A group of GMB union members protested outside Kingswood Academy today after being unsatisfied with the outcome of an investigation into an allegation of bullying.
GMB said the demo was being held in support of Anti-Bullying Week. The union said it had been in discussions with the HR department of Lift Schools, the Trust that operates Kingswood Academy, about what it claimed were "alarming levels of intimidation and harassment" towards staff at the school.
Hull Live understands that no Kingswood Academy staff members took part in the demonstration and there were no allegations that pupils were being bullied.

GMB Organiser, Liz Marshall, said: "Despite presenting evidence and raising serious concerns, we were informed that after a five-month investigation, there was 'no case to answer'. This is unacceptable.
"The impact of bullying on our members’ health, wellbeing, and safety cannot be ignored. We urge the Trust to take immediate action to create a safe working environment where staff can focus on supporting their pupils."
A spokesperson for Lift Schools, the Trust that operates Kingswood Academy, said: "We are aware of the union activity today at Kingswood and when these concerns were raised earlier in the year, they were fully explored.
"Kingswood is a high-performing school and we are confident in the work the leadership have done to establish a culture of high expectations in which young people and staff can succeed. We would always ask anyone with concerns to raise these with the school or with us."
