Good Morning Britain can always be relied on to start a debate about political correctness.

The ITV show started the week by debating whether comedy should be censored after comedian Konstantin Kisin refused to sign a “behavioural agreement form" before performing at a university.

The comedy night said it had a no tolerance policy on racism, sexism, classism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-religion or anti-atheism.

Journalist Rebecca Reid appeared on the show alongside Konstantin, but viewers were furious why she shushed him as he was talking.

Rebecca debated: “If you’re a really good comedian, you can make really good jokes without being offensive.”

She added: “I find really offensive humour really funny, I like rude humour. I go and see it because I know what I am getting myself in to. I know I’m going to see someone who is going to push boundaries.

“If you’re doing The Royal Variety Show, you’re not going to make a joke about how much you hate the Queen. When you’re in a certain environment, you temper what you say so its appropriate.”

The whole debate ended with both the guests and host Piers Morgan all talking over each other.

Piers finished: “Ricky Gervais would take issue with that.

“If you took his whole act seriously, word for word, it’s one of the most offensive things you’ll ever hear and yet it’s brilliant because he turns things on its head and highlights a lot of the things people laugh at.”

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays from 6am on ITV.
