Amid the MonsterVerse confusion, there remains one thread of clarity and certainty – it's all building up to Godzilla vs Kong.

And there's good news for fans looking forward to the battle of the behemoths, as the release date for Godzilla vs Kong has been pushed forward.

As TheWrap informs us, Godzilla vs Kong will now premiere two months earlier than planned, hitting cinemas on March 13, 2020.

The upcoming epic will arrive three years after Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures' first venture, Kong: Skull Island, and less than one year after Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Speaking of King of the Monsters, there are just a few months to go until the movie, starring Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown, crashes into cinemas.

The latest spin on the story of Godzilla dropped its trailer at San Diego Comic-Con last year, and will tell the story of monster catcher Dr Emma Russell and her daughter Madison.

Once the catcher, now the caught, Dr Russell (Farmiga) and her daughter (Bobby Brown) will be kidnapped and delivered to Godzilla and his fellow fearsome Titans, Mothra and Rodan, who are expected to help the Kaiju in his fight against King Ghidorah.

A rather unfriendly three-headed dragon-like beast, Ghidorah has been billed as Godzilla's "ultimate nemesis" in the official synopsis. Until King Kong comes along, that is.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is released in cinemas on May 31, 2019.
