Tonight's (October 11) episode of Gogglebox aired a hilarious blunder as Jenny Newby mixed up her words in the opening scenes.

As the cast settled in to watch spy thriller Slow Horses, Jenny boasted about her investigative skills to her friend Lee Riley.

"Straight down the middle, me. I can see anything coming," she declared, proudly. "I should work for MFI!"

Unbeknownst to Jenny, she had confused the security service MI5 with the defunct furniture company MFI. But the mix-up wasn't lost on Lee, who wasted no time teasing her for the blunder.

"Why?" he chuckled in response. "Do you wanna sell some wardrobes or something?"

"No! MF..." Jenny began, before she realised the mistake. "Oh no. MI5, I mean." The duo laughed, and Lee assured his friend that she would "be good working in MFI".

Viewers were tickled by the interaction, with one posting on X/Twitter: "mfi! jenny never let's me down #gogglebox." Another added: "Only Jenny could get names/companies mixed up."

Slow Horses follows a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents who have committed career-ending mistakes and have been banished to a bottom-tier department, headed by an obnoxious boss.

Elsewhere in the episode, the other armchair critics discussed what they think constitutes a good spy, with Alison nominating George for the role.

"George would make a good secret agent," she suggested. "You need to be boring to be a secret agent. Really, really boring," George replied.

Alison assured her husband that he wasn't boring, instead calling him a "chameleon". "You're demure," their daughter Helena added.

Gogglebox airs and streams on Channel 4.
