The mascots, from popular children’s books written by Julia Donaldson and brought to life in illustrations by Axel Scheffer, will be hosting the event to celebrate the reopening of Waterstones bookshop.

Children are invited to take part in colouring activities and have their picture taken with Zog and Highway Rat along with enjoying readings from the books.

On Saturday, the Highway Rat will be storytelling in the lower mall from 11am to 11.30am outside the Boots store.

Activities with Zog the dragon will happen in the same place shortly after, from 2pm to 2.30pm.

Peter Beagley, Braehead centre director, said: ““We’re very excited that Waterstones have arranged for such popular children’s characters to come to Braehead.

“We’ve been looking forward to Waterstones reopening after they fitted out and moved to a new retail unit in the upper mall.

“The storytelling event to celebrate their reopening will be very popular.”

Although entry to the storytelling sessions are free, those attending should book a ticket from the Waterstones Braehead website at waterstones.com/bookshops/braehead.
