Gold Coast Family Floats Down Flooded Streets Following Severe Storm

A Gold Coast family grabbed their first pick of flotation devices on December 17 after roads were completely submerged in floodwaters. Severe thunderstorms brought heavy rain to Queensland and the Gold Coast, leaving the region under water.

The Queensland Bureau of Meteorology reported 1,129 millimeters of rain fell in Gold Coast Hinterland after a week of intense weather. The City of Gold Coast announced on Friday that most of the southern beaches will remain closed while others reopen on a case-by-case basis.
