Gold-medal-winning Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson East will join Yahoo Sports as an analyst for this summer’s 2020 Games in Tokyo.

Johnson East, who originally worked with Yahoo Sports during the Olympics in Rio in 2016, will provide analysis on gymnastics, as well as on broader Olympic storylines and social-media features. One of the most decorated female gymnasts in history, Johnson East will be joined by Yahoo Sports’ Dan Wetzel, Hannah Keyser, Liz Loza, Chris Haynes and Pete Thamel for coverage of the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

“I’m very excited to be working with Yahoo Sports once again for the 2020 Olympic Games,” Johnson East said. “There is no event in the world like an Olympic Games, both competitively and culturally, and I’m excited to help Yahoo convey all of that to its audience leading up to and throughout the Games.”

Johnson East, who won four medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, including the gold medal in the balance beam, will begin her work with Yahoo next month at the USOC media summit, where she’ll interview aspiring Olympians training to represent the United States in the summer’s games. Shawn will be joined in Tokyo by her husband, former NFL player Andrew East, and their daughter, Drew Hazel East.

Yahoo Sports has continually prioritized best-in-class gymnastics coverage, led by Wetzel and bolstered by collaborations with standout gymnasts including Dominique Dawes and Shannon Miller, in addition to Johnson East.
