Goldcorp misses 4Q profit forecasts

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Goldcorp Inc. (GG) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $242 million.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had profit of 28 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 10 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 11 cents per share.

The gold mining company posted revenue of $853 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $658 million, or 76 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $3.42 billion.

Goldcorp shares have risen slightly more than 3 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 21 percent in the last 12 months.
