Golf on Sky Sports: TV broadcaster to show all four majors after reclaiming PGA Championship rights

All four of golf’s majors will be shown on Sky Sports in 2019 after the broadcaster secured rights to show the PGA Championship after a two-year break.

The PGA Championship, which is now back in its old May slot on the golf calendar, was last year shown on online streaming service Eleven Sports – when many users missed Brooks Koepka’s winning putt thanks to the system logging them out at the crucial moment .

In 2017 Sky lost the rights just a month before the tournament with the BBC swooping in at the last minute to pick up the coverage.

Eleven Sports, part of Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani’s portfolio, had a one-year deal for last season's final major and have recently lost the rights to show Serie A and Eredivise football, while UFC activated a clause to pull out of their deal in December.

The Masters, in April, is – as was the case with the previous schedule – the first major of the season, with the US Open following the PGA Championship in June before the Open Championship at Royal Portrush in July.

Sky Sports will also show all five of the women’s majors as Georgia Hall looks to defend her first major title at the Women’s British Open, while they will also broadcast the Solheim Cup from Gleneagles in September.
