One of the world's fastest-growing bubble tea brands is expanding into Northern Ireland. Gong Cha is known for their freshly brewed, whole leaf tea crafted by "tea experts" for a rich and smooth flavour.

First started in Taiwan in 1996, it has grown into a global empire with over 2,000 stores in over 20 countries and had landed on Belfast as the next stop in its Europen expansion.

Its website reads: "From a single bubble tea shop in Taiwan, we’ve expanded to over 2,100 stores, bringing our signature teas to guests worldwide.

Gong Cha will open its first NI store on Botanic Avenue on Friday, January 24 at 11am, serving cups of premium whole-leaf tea to its new customer base in the city.

Taking over the former Clements Coffee unit on the buzzing South Belfast street, the first 100 people through the door on opening day will receive free bubble tea.

After that, all drinks across the standard menu will be half-price for the remainder of the day to celebrate the new location in Northern Ireland.
