The Good Doctor spoilers follow for season four, episode 10 'Decrypt'.

The Good Doctor appears to have lost one of its medical staff, as the ABC drama's latest episode 'Decrypt' saw Dr Olivia Jackson fired from St Bonaventure Hospital.

In the episode directed by actor Freddie Highmore, who plays Dr Shaun Murphy, Olivia (Summer Brown) was seen treating a cancer survivor named Cort alongside Shaun and Dr Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas).

Cort's extensive charity work after losing his leg appeared to be an inspiration to the medics, but there was a twist when the patient confessed that he had faked his cancer diagnosis and had in fact lost his leg during a drunken motorbike crash.

The doctors were appalled to hear of his lies and things came to a head when a journalist was tipped off about the story, causing Dr Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) to announce that when she found out who the whistleblower was she would fire them.

With Claire, who had wanted to stop treating Cort, in the firing line, Olivia stepped forward and revealed that she was the person responsible for leaking the story – causing Lim to promptly fire her.

But there was another twist in store when Olivia's uncle, Dr Marcus Andrews (Hill Harper), confronted his niece about her apparent confession, revealing that he was the real whistleblower.

He demanded to know why Olivia had made a false confession, leading her to admit that she had never wanted to be a doctor but had felt pressure to pursue the career. She had therefore seized the opportunity to burn her bridges at St Bonaventure for good and find her true passion instead.

With Olivia's career at the hospital seemingly over, and Dr Andrews in the clear over the whistleblowing, the pair shared a hug as he announced that he would support her decision.

Although it hasn't been confirmed whether Olivia is leaving the show for good, it certainly seems that her time at St Bonaventure is over. But is there more to come for her?

The Good Doctor season 4 airs on ABC in the US. The show airs on Sky Witness and NOW TV in the UK.
