The Good Doctor season four, episode six spoilers follow.
The Good Doctor's midseason return last night (January 11) culminated in Dr Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) suffering a rather dramatic moment.
The ABC drama has explored the impact of COVID-19, with Audrey's distressing experiences working during the pandemic giving her PTSD.
During the show's latest episode, 'Lim', it is made clear that the trauma surgeon is not doing ok as she lashes out at colleagues, and things come to a head when Audrey crashes her motorcycle – though she luckily manages to walk away relatively unscathed.
Opening-up about the big moment, Christina explained to TVLine: "There's the initial shock that it happened because she's never crashed [her motorcycle before]. I don't even think she physically feels anything when she gets up off the ground."
However, placing Audrey's emotional reaction, the actress added: "She's feeling like 'OK, clearly there's a problem here.'
"The sound that you hear is what she is finally hearing: It's the flatline, then she starts to hear all of those voices. All of those things are starting to get louder in her head. It's clearly a signal of what's been bothering her. It's an awakening for Lim.
"There were some sounds she was hearing before, like the scene in her office where she tries to drown it out by listening to music," Christina continued. "She's trying to drown out this beep, but she's not understanding what that is yet.
"It's bothersome, and it's sort of nibbling at her, but it's not clear. At the end, I don't think it's one specific thought she's having. It's more of a general awareness that this is attached to the experience that I have had this year."
Christina went on to reveal that we will "barely" see Audrey in next week's episode, with her story picking up the following week as the show explores her "emotional injury".
