Good Morning Britain came under fire for a “sexist” debate over whether or not Madonna should cover up after turning 60.

Broadcast journalist Rebecca Jane left viewers horrified as she slated the Queen of Pop for being an “embarrassment” and looking “horrendous”.

Eamonn Holmes kicked off the discussion, asking: “Should she be putting it away?”

Jane replied: “She’s an attention seeker. Getting up in the front of a car and twerking. At the end of the day Piers Morgan agrees with me.”

She claimed her outlandish outfits and stage shows distract younger audiences from focusing on her biggest achievements and charity work.

“Madonna doesn’t look fantastic,” she said. “She is taking away from all the good stuff she is doing. Today’s generation don’t know about all the good stuff she’s done because she does these embarrassing acts. They’re too focused on all this attention seeking stuff. She’s not selling singles. I think she’s horrendous.”

Ranvir Singh and fellow guest star Linda Lusardi berated Jane for her comments with viewers slamming the show for allowing a debate on ageing women, claiming male artists would not spark such discussions.

One tweeted: “Did this chick just call Madonna embarrassing?! Sorry what. It's Madonna. 60 or 600 let the gal wear and do what she wants, who is she hurting?! People are so stuck up #GMB.”

Another posted: “Do you ask the oldies from the rolling stones etc. to act their age?? It is sexist. Be who you are! @GMB #MadonnaAt60 #gmb.”

Madonna turned 60 today, with Christine Lampard also marking the milestone occasion on Lorraine.

But she got an early morning shock after one of Madonna’s former backing dancers dropped the f-bomb while discussing the pop superstar’s reinventions.

Carlton Wilborn said: “The way that she, three, four, seconds studied her face. I was like oh my God that’s the Madonna person and then she sat back in her chair. I was like [gasp], holy f***!”

Lampard gasped in shock before telling viewers: “Unfortunately I’m going to have to apologise for your language. I know you’re excited about her birthday today but maybe not quite that excited.

“We’re terribly sorry if we’ve affected anyone’s breakfast.”
