Noel Edmonds' interview on Good Morning Britain descended into chaos as Susanna Reid had to apologise for him swearing live on-air. The broadcaster appeared on the ITV news programme on Monday (June 17) to chat about his life and work in New Zealand.

But as well as Susanna tentatively apologising for his risky language on the show, Noel, 75, was also criticised by viewers for making a jab at Ed Balls' weight after Mr Blobby joined them live in the studio.

Noel was asked why he doesn't tend to look back on his career to which he said he is "too busy" before reeling off his different projects and ventures, including that he owns an old English pub called the Bugger Inn.

Presenter Susanna told their guest to "steady" himself in response, prompting him to say: “No, that’s perfectly acceptable language." Susanna argued that it might be allowed in New Zealand but Edmonds doubled down, claiming it was acceptable in the UK as well.

But she responded: "I’ll have to apologise for that just in case there are families that don’t think so." She then quickly changed topics by asking about his relationship with Mr Blobby, who featured on his former variety show Noel’s House Party.

After Noel said he speaks to the character "most days", before they were reunited live on the show. Mr Blobby first appeared on the variety show in 1992 and was known for causing mischief and for only saying “blobby” in an electronically altered voice.

As Mr Blobby hugged Edmonds, he said he had a “funny feeling” that the large pink and yellow-polka-dotted figure would join them. He added: "The only thing that could be said about this, he makes Ed look slim" prompting a shocked response from the former politician before they cut to a break, ending the interview.

But GMB viewers quickly flocked to social media and said there was 'no need' for the comment. After the show returned from a break, Mr Blobby could be seen on the floor, having fallen over the table placed in front of the presenters in the studio. Susanna told viewers: “That was the aftermath of the interview with Noel Edmonds and a special guest appearance by Mr Blobby.”
